Hello, I'm
Negar Torabi
Shoe Designer
Crafting stories with every step
About Me
I am Negar Torabi, a shoe designer with a rich background full of experience and challenges. I graduated in Industrial Design from Tehran West University. After the pandemic began, I changed my career path and worked as a freelancer in startups.
In 2023, I learned specialized skills such as modeling, pattern making, and material selection at Gaga Shoe Workshop, and became familiar with the details of shoe construction.
Now, by combining industrial design knowledge with practical experience, I create designs that are both beautiful, functional, and innovative. For me, every shoe is a living story that takes shape with each step.

My Design Process
A collection of highlights and examples from my experiences in shoe design and construction

Step 1: Concept
First, I determine the design direction with a feeling, concept, or keyword, then by collecting related images, materials, and colors, I create a mood board to define the visual space of the project. Finally, by analyzing the mood board, I select a concept that has the most conceptual and aesthetic harmony with the project's goal.

Step 2: Ideation
After selecting the concept, I begin ideation with sketching to play with form, line, and proportions to find the best visual expression of the concept.

Step 3: Details
In this section, I focus on the model, paying attention to visual details, stitch type, and how parts connect to balance luxurious beauty, connection strength, and technical durability of the shoe.

Step 4: Texturing
In the texturing stage, using markers, colored pencils, and even digital techniques, I create texture and depth by combining color, light, and shadow so materials like leather with different textures appear realistic in the design.

Step 5: Color Palette
In this stage, by selecting colors that harmonize with the shoe's form and material, I try to create a uniform combination and overall harmony between all components such as hardware colors, sole, and other details like laces to make the design cohesive and attractive.

Step 6: Material Selection
In the material selection stage, my focus was on choosing materials that visually harmonize with the design and are technically durable and high quality. Considering texture, weight, flexibility, and breathability, my effort was to ensure the shoe maintains its luxurious appearance while being comfortable.

Step 7: Last Copy
In this stage, using paper tape and the last wrapping technique, I determine the exact size and cut of pieces so that form, stitching, and sole installation can be done without problems. Precision in this section determines how the design sits on the last and makes the final shoe model precise, comfortable, and professional.

Step 8: Pattern Making
In the pattern breakdown section, I carefully separate sizes and pieces to specify the position of each part (upper or lining). Precision in this stage is important for clean stitching and final form, and the more pieces and details there are, the more focus is needed to ensure the structure takes shape correctly and cleanly.

Step 9: Upper Construction and Preparation
First, I create an initial model with substitute materials to check the form and sizes and correct any issues. After ensuring the form is correct, cutting and stitching is done with the final material, and the precision and cleanliness of this work forms the foundation of quality, durability, and final appearance. Finally, the upper is carefully placed on the last to complete the final form.
